Title: QUARTET

About: Four artists from Suffolk get together to show their varied work – Mary Gundry (figurative), Wil Harvey (line and wash), James Power (landscape), Alan Rutter (linocut).


Mary Gundry

Mary from Blythburgh has been painting professionally for 25 years. She is recognised for her figurative work which has been reproduced as cards, prints and a book “Drawn to Southwold.” Recently she became a member of the Ipswich Art Society.

Wil Harvey

Wil from Wenhaston uses ink and wash as the basis of his work, and exhibits and runs workshops with local art clubs. He particularly enjoys painting en plein-air and together with Jim Power, formed the East Suffolk Plein Air Painters.

James Power SEA, AIEA from Metfield works in oils, watercolours and pastels with a passion for Suffolk rural life. A former stud groom for a major stud farm, his knowledge and skill at painting horses is superb. He is an active member of The Society of Equestrian Artists, currently tutoring equestrian art at the Munnings Museum in Dedham.

Alan Rutter from Blythburgh is a printmaker who studied graphic design at Hornsey College of Art and practised as a graphic designer in London for over 20 years. He eventually trained as a teacher and taught graphics until retirement. Using his design experience and love of the local countryside, he produces linocut prints of images of Suffolk.
